Trek to Kamandurg (Vasai)

One fine day, after getting bored a lot, we decided to go and summit the Kamandurg fort near Vasai. It was Gokhulashtami and we four had holiday so we decided to go on this day. The Kamandurg fort lies in Vasai area and is very rarely visited. A very dense place situated nearby Mumbai. So the bags were ready and as per the plan, we started in a four wheeler of our team member from Goregaon at 6.45 am. Trek to Ratangad (Igatpuri)

“Ratan” means jewel. Ratangad is known as the jewel fort. It is situated in dense forests of Kalsubai – Harishchandragad range and offers a very beautiful view from the top. Ratangad was in our hit list and so finally we decided to summit this mountain on 22nd August 2010. The whole schedule was ready and this time we also booked a jeep for travelling from Bhandardara to Ratanwadi (base village of Ratangad) and back.
